An adven­ture based on the Middle East from a Japan­ese anim­a­tion stu­dio that does not fea­ture a school set­ting, and derives much of its plot from social commentary.

Plus, it has a damn good plot and the lead char­ac­ters are not one-dimensional do-gooders either.

I know its still too early in the animé sea­son to com­ment, but I can’t really see any­thing else right now approach­ing Magi in terms of quality.
