Organ Donor

I am pleased to say I managed to register myself as an organ donor two days ago in the town hospital at Balik Pulau, where four or five years ago, I was politely told to take my efforts at being a more efficient being of existence to the Penang Hospital.

Guilty as charged. I let the minor inconvenience of time and transportation (always a problem with Malaysian public transport) get in the way of my dreams of not leaving behind anything for my family to burn to ashes.

It took about 45 minutes from entering the hospital to filling up a simple form to officially pledge myself as an organ donor. Clearly, the staff were quite busy where the same person who was manning the counter ended up being the same person who followed up on the case. My thanks to their dedication despite the long work hours (of which I have a vivid picture of thanks to Sen Wai).

The result was very pleasing.

To further clarify my position that when I meant I would like to donate all my organs, and not only just the organs that are usable in a transplant, I asked the staff to ensure that nothing would go to waste. That whatever remains goes to students for study or whatever else that could make my mass of remaining protein and calcium as useful as possible.

I have been assured that nothing will be wasted. 100% of my corpse will be used. Hopefully, my family will respect my wishes after my death. And if they should forget, this blog post should leave no ambiguity as to my wishes.
