There is now a second date on Saturday. I have updated my post accordingly, and a new event on Facebook.

If you would like to organise something similar, I can help broadcast it to the community as well. Instead of waiting for others to take action for us, we can try doing it ourselves for a change.

i was on the island today to apply for a tourist visa to india — so i went ahead a scouted for potential locations for the meet. i’m looking at chili’s, pastamania!, a&w, swensen’s and nando’s at the moment because they appear to be capable of hosting a group of ten. since you’re a native, which do you suggest?

I haven’t been a native for 3 years since entering university. So I requested backup.

You should have some recommendations soon.

well, i guess i should just decide. update the event with the venue: pastamania! mainly cos their restaurant is quite spacious. say that if anyone objects they should speak up. if not, i’ll just privately message everyone at the end of the week to tell them where they should be at what time.

I would concur. Query the board and if no one objects, just proceed ahead. At least Atheo Lee will be attending by the looks of it.

Any meetup in May? I’m in town from May 2 to May 8 and was hoping to meet fellow atheist to learn what’s the scene like in Penang.

Always nice to see a fellow Malaysian atheists. We are more numerous than previously assumed.

Anyway, while we are still working out the details of an official Malaysian atheist website, the MAFA group on Facebook allows for the greatest amount of interaction amongst our members.

      https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=22863906024&ref=ts

If you are interested in joining or organizing such events, I highly recommend joining this group and finding interested parties by posting on the wall. The admins (including me) will help you out from there.

Unless of course, you are boycotting Facebook, following which I will try to organise a meet-up in that period for you on your behalf.

Thanks for your interest, and it’s okay if you can’t join the events this month. You can help out by spreading the word on blogs, other social networks, and amongst friends and family who may be interested.

Honestly, getting into the MAFA group will expose you to more activities quicker until we have our own official atheist site.
